The Archives

Artists of the past we admire and draw from. Every living artist on Wear Human stands on their shoulders — this is our oath to them. Their works are printed in homage, and a share of what they earn will go to artist residencies and foundations that help today's artists keep making work.

Gaganendranath Tagore

04 works

Gaganendranath Tagore was one of India’s earliest modern artists, known for moving between Bengal School influences, Japanese brushwork, satire, caricature, and bold experiments with cubist form. His work feels unusually contemporary: sharp, theatrical, shadowed, and graphic. For Wear Human, we see him as an archive artist whose images still carry the energy of disruption, wit, and visual experimentation.

Odilon Redon

03 works

French Symbolist painter, printmaker and draughtsman, born in Bordeaux in 1840. For the first half of his career Redon worked almost only in black — charcoal drawings and lithographs he called his "noirs": floating eyes, winged heads, spiders with human faces, creatures from dreams rather than the world. After 1890 his work broke into colour, in pastels and oils of flowers, myths and luminous profiles. He died in Paris in 1916. We keep him in the Archives because so much of what our artists make — the strange, the tender, the half-seen — walks through a door he opened.
